Welcome to UAB Human Resources

Human Resources (HR) is an innovative contributor to UAB's mission to be a research university and academic health center that discovers, teaches and applies knowledge for the intellectual, cultural, social and economic benefit of Birmingham, the state and beyond. It is not just another personnel department hiding under a trendy new title, but rather a forward-looking staff committed to discovery and implementation of new techniques to help employees become more capable to perform their assignments at peak efficiency in a supportive and challenging work environment. HR is not concerned with the "way things are done" but rather in defining and meeting personnel matters, both policy and individual, in a manner that will bring viable solutions.

HR was created to serve the Employees of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. It provides support to the institution through the departments of Benefits, the Child Care Center, Compensation, Training and Development, the Employee Assistance Program, Employee Relations, Employment, and Temporary Services, HR Data and Administrative Systems Services, HR Records, and Employee Health. Chief Human Resources Officer for UAB, Alesia Jones heads Human Resources.
