Annual Open Enrollment
Attention! Open Enrollment ended on Friday, October 16, 2009 at 5:00 p.m.

There are two important changes for UAB’s Annual Open Enrollment process this year.  Open Enrollment has been shortened and will be handled exclusively through the web.  Annual Open Enrollment for medical, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts and voluntary accidental death and dismemberment (ADD) will begin on Thursday, October 1, 2009 at 7:00 a.m. CT and end on Friday, October16, 2009 at 5:00 pm CT for all benefit eligible employees of UAB.  All elections made during open enrollment will be effective January 1, 2010.

UAB will use the web-based enrollment provided by Sykes Health Plan Services (SHPS) for employees making open enrollment changes.  To enroll via the web, you will need access to the website located at www.myshps.com , then click the Participants/Members login link located on the menu to the left. Or you may go directly to the login at, https://services.shps.com/login/participantlogin.asp.  In order to comply with federal laws regulating benefit plan participation and to retain those pre-tax features which are desired by our employees, changes will not be accepted after the close of open enrollment, which will be promptly at 5:00 pm (CT) Friday, October 16, 2009.
