Instructor-led Orientation
Employees who are to attend instructor-led orientation held every other Monday in Medical Towers Building Room 419A should be registered through employment no later than Thursday noon prior to the Monday they wish to attend.
To register all Post-docs, visiting scientists/scholars, and O2 status employees directly, please send the employee’s name, department, and title to Mary Floyd (mfloyd@uab.edu). All others must register through UAB Recruitment Services.
All new employees of the University are required to complete orientation within 30 days of initial employment. This is to assure that all benefits enrollment and other required forms have been completed prior to pay being issued.
New Employee Orientation is conducted every other Monday - or on the first day of the work week in the event of a holiday - in the Medical Towers, Suite 419A. Medical Towers is located at 1717 11th Avenue South (on the corner of 11th Avenue South and 18th Street) .
Orientation begins promptly at 8:00 am and concludes at approximately 5:00 pm. Lunch will be provided for you.

Parking
Parking is available in the deck or in the parking lot at the rear of the building. Deck parking is $6.00 per day. Lot parking is $2.00 and will accept quarters. Each parking option accepts bills up to $20. You must have cash to exit. Free parking is available across the street in Lot 15W.
Information to Bring with You
Please bring the following information with you to new employee orientation:
- Social security number
- Department name
- Office address
- Position title
- Vehicle license tag number (if you would like to register for campus parking)
You will also need to know if you are paid monthly or hourly.
In addition you may also need to bring the following items:
- Sweater or light jacket (At times, our training room temperature may be cooler than some employees prefer)
- Cash for parking
- Lunch will be provided however individuals with special dietary needs may prefer to bring their own lunch. A refrigerator is available.
