Effective July 1, 2013, all new employees in the UAB Health System, UAB Hospital, UAHSF, The Kirklin Clinic, The Kirklin Clinic at Acton Road, UAB Callahan Eye Hospital, OSF, Triton/VIVA, and UAB Health Centers will be tested for nicotine use as part of their pre-employment drug screening following a job offer. Those who test positive for nicotine use will not be hired.

Tobacco cessation sessions are led by certified counselors from the UAB Resource Center/Employee Assistance Program. Beat the Pack classes will be offered in January, March, May, July, September, November. Now is the time to take charge of your health!
One-on-One Counseling
Faculty, staff, and employees are eligible for 4 FREE one-on-one tobacco cessation counseling sessions per year. Contact the UAB Resource Center to schedule a session with a trained counselor at 205-934-2281.
Alabama Tobacco Quitline – 1-800-QUITNOW
The Alabama Tobacco Quitline offers FREE information to anyone interested in quitting tobacco use, or to anyone who wants more information about quitting. The Quitline offers FREE master's level counseling, a personalized quit plan, and four weeks of free nicotine patches if you are enrolled in counseling.
